Merry Christmas from Ryu ga Gotoku Online

RyuOn celebrated Christmas two weeks early, to clear the way for the Tokyo Revengers collaboration. Which … seems a strange decision, but really nothing about this game surprises me any more.

The Christmas story itself though actually was a pleasant surprise, featuring classic RyuOn Kasuga and a bunch of the original characters from the early days of the game. It was a reminder of how things used to be, when we had seasonal events depicting life in Kamurocho. So it was fun, but also a bit sad, because it’s so rare now. Anyway, since it’s such a rarity now, I wrote it up. Merry Christmas!

To mark RyuOn‘s third anniversary (yes, it’s actually survived for three years! Well, if it makes it to next week it will have!) we’re having a Ryu ga Gotoku 7 event. As part of that we got this Sugoroku story featuring Namba.

It’s been a while … but the main reason I haven’t posted anything is there just hasn’t been anything worth posting. Ryu ga Gotoku Online is dying, the money grabs are getting more and more desperate, the story content is getting less and less interesting … and I think there’s also the fact that they’ve covered a lot of the big gaps in the story now, so there isn’t that much left to fill in. This is one of the few stories I’ve bothered to read lately, so I guess I might as well write it up.

The New Year Sugoroku event was our first proper Ryu ga Gotoku 7 story in RyuOn (the others were just a training event and a scratchcard event, which never have much in the way of story). That’s really the only reason I’m writing it up, because it just … wasn’t a very good story. There’s a huge amount of repetitive conversation, exposition and just general padding … I’ve skipped as much of that as possible in this summary but it’s probably still a pretty dull read. Sorry about that.

Really not much to report at the moment, but we’ve been promised an “announcement of future developments” next week, so I guess I should just catch up on what little has been going on before that.

The RyuOn “memorial events” have reached Ryu ga Gotoku 3, and the first event in it was a Sugoroku featuring Rikiya. This one’s more substory than backstory, but it’s fun. It’s set after Kiryu became friendly with Nakahara and the rest of Ryudo Ikka.
