Finally got round to posting this … hey, at least I made it before the English version came out! I believe the official English title for this is “Hell Stew”.

Horii posted the full-spec lyrics on Twitter, as he did with the other new songs. In his tweet, he explained how he came up with the idea for it – “I was pissed off, and eating hotpot, and that’s when I thought it up! Just like that 😅” I don’t think it’s too much of a leap to assume that he was pissed off at online trolls at the time …

Party Night!

A hotpot party in hell!
“So, Naoki-chan, what would be good for tonight’s dinner? Curry, hamburger, paella? Bagna cauda? Or … how about hell’s hotpot!”
The devils’ hotpot is
made of worthless humans
All your troll replies make you the perfect choice
for tonight’s main dish
Cabbage, onions, pork ribs, never mind the usual ingredients
What do devils prefer in their stock?
The redness of blood is redder than kimchi
Pouring from the belly flesh, so delicious!
We eat in the dark
and the bottom of the pot is as dark as despair
Hotpot party night in hell!

In the devil’s hotpot
horrible people atone for their crimes
You, all smug with your anon account,
are perfect for the sacrifice
Lobster, caviar, foie gras, never mind those high-class ingredients
You’ll go better with poison-apple flavoured sake
Raised on snacks and junk food,
all that fat on your belly, so delicious!!!
It was better than chankonabe
at making you strong and fat
Hell’s hotpot … that was tasty – DEATH!

Notes:

  • Wordplay it’s impossible to convey in English – the pronunciation of the word for “atonement” and the word for “ingredients” is the same – shokuzai.
  • Chankonabe is a special hotpot sumo wrestlers eat to make them strong and fat.
  • “That was tasty – DEATH” – “gottsuanDEATH” is another wordplay, based on “gochisousama desu”, said at the end of a meal to confirm that you’ve finished and you enjoyed it. “desu” sounds like “death” in Japanese.
